Free Virtual Field Trip

Online Event Presented by Art Center of the Bluegrass

401 West Main Street, Danville, Kentucky 40422

Thursday, September 17th
3:00pm - 4:00pm EDT

Join us for a FREE virtual field trip of the En Plein Air exhibit. Our fall exhibit features landscape artwork created by members of the Plein Air Artists of Central KY. The field trip is open to students in grades K-12.

Register online at: www.artcenterky.org/kids-classes

During the virtual field trip, students will learn about plein air artwork (and why it was revolutionary for artists to paint outdoors), engage in a live video exploration of the exhibit with Visual Arts Director Brandon Long, and create their own landscape art.

Free supply kits are available for pickup from the Art Center and contain the materials needed to make a plein air collage, inspired by one of the pieces in the exhibit. (Before a Storm by John Andrew Dixon, pictured above.)

This is a virtual program. Families will receive links to access a pre-visit video and instructions for the collage project. The live portion of the field trip will be conducted via Zoom.

Registration is limited to 25 participants. Pre-registration is required.

Please note: if you have a 3rd grader at any school in Danville/Boyle County or a 2nd grader in a Boyle County school, they are already scheduled for a virtual field trip during class time! Stay tuned for details from your teacher.
