Fish Tank: Emerging Entrepreneurs in the Arts is a pitch competition featuring University of Kentucky arts administration students sharing their ideas for new nonprofit arts ventures. Pitches will be judged by accomplished entrepreneurs and arts professionals who will give expert feedback to our new entrepreneurs about the feasibility and sustainability of their projects.
The 3rd annual Fish Tank: Emerging Entrepreneurs in the Arts will be held Tuesday, November
17th at 7:00pm. For the first time ever, this event will be hosted online from the comfort of our
respective homes (or offices or favorite coffee shops). What else will be different this year, you
might ask? For starters, all six teams will be addressing the same problem:
The global pandemic has challenged the ways in which we have historically engaged with arts
and culture in society. Many organizations have adapted their programming by relying heavily
on technological solutions (e.g. live streaming). But not everyone has access to the necessary
technology to participate. Arts administrators striving to create just and inclusive organizations
must ensure access to the arts for economically disadvantaged, rural, or other populations that
may not have consistent/reliable internet access or who lack the equipment or tech savvy to
engage.
Finally, for the first time the esteemed panel of judges as well as audiences will be able to
participate as though we're all here in Lexington sans commute (or the need for parking).
