Discovery Night: Festivals Around the World

Join us for a festive evening of rich, cultural celebration exploring winter festivals around the world! Travel to China, the Middle East, India, Ireland and more! Experience traditional dance, art, music, costumes and food in this celebration of celebrations! University of Kentucky’s Confucius Institute celebrates Chinese winter with traditional instruments, costumes, and calligraphy demonstrations. Irish dancers from Bluegrass Ceili offer a lively performance steeped in Irish tradition. Indian musicians and artists will represent regional festivities through performance and traditional Rangoli sand art. In the planetarium, we’ll be featuring Seasons of Light which explores why humans are so fascinated with lighting up the holiday season.
