Eco-Art Workshop: Watercolor Landscapes with Toby Penney
Josephine Sculpture Park
3355 Lawrenceburg Road, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601
10:00am - 12:30pm EDT
Explore your relationship with the land at Josephine Sculpture Park's eco-art workshop! JSP founder and chief curator, Melanie VanHouten, will share a 30-minute guided tour of Linda Bruckheimer's Lost and Found Farmscapes exhibition. Then, multidisciplinary artist, Toby Penney, will guide you through simple yet powerful techniques for creating vibrant landscape paintings using watercolor. Whether you're a first-time painter or a practicing creative, this workshop offers a peaceful, hands-on opportunity to connect with nature through art.
Together, we'll explore the basics of watercolor - how to blend color, build layers, and express light and movement. You'll choose a view from the surrounding landscape or use a nature photo reference to create your own plein air-style painting. All materials will be provided, and no prior experience is needed. You will create multiple watercolor studies to take home.
