Join us for the opening of Queer, Here, & Everywhere: The Roots of Kentucky’s LGBTQ History! This is the first comprehensive exhibition of Lexington’s LGBTQ history, showcasing the importance of the queer community in this city.

We invite the entire Lexington community to join as at the Opening Reception as we unveil this monumental exhibition. The reception is on Friday, May 30 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm in the Third Floor Exhibition Space at Lexington Public Library, Central Branch. At 6:00pm, there will be remarks from Mayor Linda Gorton, Councilwoman Emma Curtis, FMA President Dr. Jonathan Coleman, and exhibition designer Joanna Hayes speaking to the importance of this exhibition.

Queer, Here, & Everywhere is the first comprehensive exhibition of Lexington’s LGBTQ history, showcasing the importance of the queer community in this city. Highlighting key moments and figures in Lexington's LGBTQ history, from Sweet Evening Breeze's drag performances in the 1920s to the passage of the Fairness Ordinance in 1999, this exhibit will celebrate the resilience and contributions of the queer community. By shedding light on these often overlooked narratives, we hope to foster a greater sense of belonging for LGBTQ individuals in Lexington while also promoting understanding and appreciation among the broader population.

This exhibition was made possible by a generous 250Lex Cultural Grant!
