Join us as Yo-Yo Ma displays his virtuosity alongside Teddy Abrams and the Louisville Orchestra in a single performance of Shostakovich along with experts of a new work written by Abrams for Yo-Yo Ma and inspired by Plato's Allegory of the Cave. Yo-Yo Ma's time in Louisville will explore the profound connections between music, community, and nature, highlighting the peoples and stories that bind them together and the inherent responsibility we must preserve and extend both.

This is sure to be an unforgettable evening.

To celebrate this unique occasion, the Louisville Orchestra invites you to join our Gala where guests will enjoy a cocktail hour and dinner at the beautiful Frazier History Museum prior to the concert. VIP guests are invited to join us for desserts immediately following the concert (location TBA).

This is not just any Gala concert performance for the LO, but one featuring a musical lineup that truly reflects the history and DNA of the orchestra itself. Music that speaks to the community outreach and innovations that this orchestra has always valued. From iconic Beethoven to two composers from whom the LO has commissioned works (one recorded on the First Edition label) to an offering by our ground-breaking Rap School, to a selection from a piece written by our very own Teddy Abrams to a performance of one of the iconic cello concertos of the 20th century in the hands of one of the greatest cellists who has ever lived – Yo-Yo Ma. A once in a lifetime concert experience celebrating YOUR Louisville Orchestra!
